How a D2C Pick and Pack Operation Works

At Magnavale, we provide a number of bespoke food contract packing services in line with our standard warehouse services that we offer. One of which is a pick and pack service where, on behalf of food manufacturers or distributors, we pack a food product into various packaging formats. These pick and pack services are favoured within the e-commerce industry where these products are delivered direct to consumer to remove any unnecessary direct costs from the supply chain.

Cold Storage Warehousing, Pick and Pack Services

Our cold stores operate at various temperature regimes allowing our customers to store food products across ambient, chilled and frozen temperatures. This is particularly useful for meal kit producers and alike businesses where packages may be made up of ambient, chilled and frozen products.

Although ambient, chilled and frozen goods will be stored in different locations within the cold storage facility, our Warehouse Management System (WMS) allows our pick and pack team to efficiently locate stock.

As we receive orders, our team schedules and begins the process of picking and packing. Once the stock is located within the cold store using the WMS, it is then transported to an on-site contract packing area where our team can assemble into the designated packaging. Finalising the order involves labelling individual orders and once this is complete the packages are distributed by a courier network.
