Magnavale: Reflecting on 2022

As we approach the end of the year, we wanted to reflect on some of the progress we’ve made and the incredible work done by each of the Magnavale teams. We are proud to say, this year we have expanded and developed our cold storage network in many ways and have made progress on our journey toward Net Zero.

At the beginning of 2022, we shared the fantastic news regarding upgrading the compressors and condensers at our Chesterfield, Scunthorpe and Warrington cold storage facilities. The project was set out to improve the efficiency and longevity of our cold stores and reduce carbon emissions.

In April, we announced our Warrington cold store was nearing the end of its expansion project and later in November 2022, we completed the project, adding a significant 8,000 pallet spaces, bringing the total pallet capacity of the entire facility to just over 35,000 frozen pallet spaces.

Excitingly this year we opened our fourth cold storage facility with a capacity of 44,000 pallet locations. We see a lot of potential for our Lincolnshire-based cold store, Magnavale Easton. The cold store is positioned in a prime location for food manufacturers and distributors and features extensive added value services, including a specialist contract packing area.

On top of that, the Phase 2 Development at Magnavale Easton is underway and on track to be complete by Q2 2024. The 101,000-pallet cold store was announced during 2021 and construction commenced during September 2022. Not only will the temperature-controlled facility run entirely on renewable energy, but it will be the largest single cold store constructed in the UK.

As a business, we have achieved a lot in 2022 and we would like to thank the Magnavale team for their dedication, loyalty and hard work. We now look forward to 2023 where we aim to create even greener and more sustainable supply chains.
